QURIYAT - BIMMAH SINKHOLE - WADI SHAB - SUR - RAS AL HADD
The tour begins by taking the road to the coastal town of Quriyat, which is a quiet fishing village and famous for its resistance to Portuguese invasion. The main sightseeings are the Quriyat Fort, which is in the middle of the town, and the harbor area. Then the tour continues onto a photo stop at the "Bimmah Sinkhole", a big natural hole, filled by water, created by the collapsing of the roof of a cave millions of years ago. Drive to Wadi Shab. This Wadi is one of the most famous Wadi in Oman, a place where locals and tourists go, especially in the summer, to escape from the high temperatures of Muscat. When you reach the entrance of the Wadi, a small boat will allow you to cross the river’s mouth for most of the year full of water. Once you have crossed the river, just follow the well-signed footpath that will lead you to the refreshing natural pools. Take a bath, relax and enjoy your time.
Continuing your journey you will reach soon Sur, the main city of Ash Sharqiyah region, and, in the past, one of the biggest port in Oman from where the commercial ships sailed off into the Ocean and the East Africa harbors. Sur is still considered the most important place for the traditional wooden ships construction. You will visit one of the last shipyards in the whole Middle East, a great opportunity to look at the handmade construction of these incredible ships. Take a photo of the dhow and proceed to Ras al Hadd, where after the dinner in the hotel you will visit the Turtle reserve to watch the Giant Green Turtles laying the eggs. After, return to your hotel for the night.
