The journey starts with a visit to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, one of the biggest mosques in the Middle East. Later we will drive towards “Al Ayn Ancient Tombs” the first UNESCO world heritage site of our tour. The Archaeological Sites of Al-Ayn, along with Bat, and Al-Khutm, are a group of necropolises from the 3rd Millennium BC, located near a palm grove. They were declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 1988. You will stop then in Bahla (UNESCO site since 1987) which is famous for its ancient fort and its pottery, a delightful old town that preserved its traditions. The whole site is surrounded by a protective wall of 12 km long which is still standing. After the visit of the famous Pottery Centre and Bahla Fort which was built in the late 17th century, time for lunch at the local restaurant. After lunch, we will head down the mountains towards Misfah Al Abriyeen, which is an ancient village that you can walk through the ancient falaj system (UNESCO sites from 2006) with a pleasant different shade of fruits. We will stop, in Al Hamra village for a short walk in the oasis before reach the hotel. You will stop for the night in a mountain resort near al Hamra (or in Nizwa).
